Ductile Iron Casting
Ductile iron, also known as nodular, spheroidal or spherulitic graphite (SG) castings are specific types of cast iron that exhibits flexible and elastic metal qualities. Due to its versatility, ductile iron casting offers multiple uses and applications in a variety of products and industries.
Ductile iron castings at Cast-Fab have been produced from CAD drawings in as little as 4 days. Carefully selected raw materials produce a superior metallurgy, saving up to 20% in roughing and finish machining time. A just-in-time strategy for ductile iron has been implemented to reduce costs, lead times, work-in-process and inventory. Cast-Fab has ISO 9001:2008 experience in the Plastics, Machine Tool, Paper, Printing, Elevator, Construction, Turbine, Air Compressor, Pump, Valve and Refrigeration industries.

MELTING
Fully equipped metallurgical laboratory to completely measure the chemical analysis on base iron in the furnace, and final ladle analysis of your castings. All ladles are serialized and molds are made with cast-in serial numbers, providing a complete metallurgical traceability to the melting records and analytical data. All ductile ladles are sampled at the time of pouring to measure the nodularity as a critical control step in our process.
We pour test bars according to the standard designations in ASTM, DIN, EN, ISO or JIS specifications. Test bars will be either separate cast coupons or attached to the casting itself, according to the agreed to customer requirements. Tensile testing is performed on our own calibrated Tinius-Olsen test machine.
Metallographic evaluations are performed according to ASTM A247 or ISO 945, or any specific customer requirements."
We have long term experience on Charpy V-notch testing at low temperature and room temperature - we have produced grades DIN 1693 GGG-40.3 and EN-1563-GJS-400-18-LT for over 15 years.
